Most of our clients think about sensor taps as primarily for use in their washrooms. However it’s also worth considering sensor taps for your kitchens as well. Whether you have a small staff kitchen with a single sink or you have many sinks throughout your organisation, sensor taps are a great option.
Saving water and energy
One of the biggest benefits of sensor taps for businesses is the amount of water and energy that they save, and sensor taps can help with this throughout the whole organisation – not just in the washrooms. Sensor taps typically mean a water saving of up to 70% compared to traditional taps. A secondary benefit here is of course the reduction in associated utilities bills. This is because sensor taps are much more efficient than traditional taps – dispensing water only in the precise quantities needed and with no way that they can be ‘left running’ like a traditional tap, a common issue in staff kitchens.
Cleaner and more hygienic
As already mentioned, this tends to be one of the biggest selling points for washroom users of sensor taps but it’s definitely relevant to kitchens and other areas of the business as well. With sensor taps you never need to touch the tap itself, thus keeping it cleaner for longer. Conti+ also offers a ‘best of both worlds’ solution specifically for kitchens which combines a traditional lever tap with a built in close proximity sensor, so staff can use the tap in the conventional way when they want to but activate it ‘remotely’ when their hands are dirty.
Stylish, modern and attractive designs
As people tend to associate sensor taps with washroom environments they may think that they’re not stylish enough to be incorporated into ‘entertaining’ spaces such as kitchens. In fact nothing could be further from the truth. Sensor taps are available in a wide range of award winning designs so make a great and stylish addition to any kitchen or bathroom.
As simple to install as a traditional tap
Modern sensor taps are reliable and as simple to install as traditional taps with no special skills required. Sensor taps can easily be retrofitted to your existing sink. Indeed, taps such as the Ultra range from Conti+ are actually easier for to maintain as they have a built in above basin isolation feature. You don’t need mains electricity to run your sensor taps – taps like the Conti+ Ultra offer a battery powered version that has a four year life expectancy.
Specific taps designed for kitchens
In principle any of our sensor taps would work just as well in a kitchen as it does in a washroom but we also have some particular models that are specifically designed for kitchen use. For example, the miscea Kitchen combines two dispensers and a faucet into one unique and easy to use system, eliminating clutter and mess. The Conti+ h10 brings together tradition and sensor technology in combination for the family kitchen.
Our range of Billi filtered and boiling water dispensers are specifically designed for office environments. Billi lets you enjoy pure, clean drinking water in a commercial setting without costly environmental impact. Billi units consume less energy than a kettle, and have far less environmental impact than that of bottled water. In the UK Billi has attained ISO14001 certification, in addition to the globally recognised Gold Global Green Tag certification, and Billi taps are WRAS approved.
The Swiss Eco Tap is also a great option for kitchens and other non-washroom environments. The Acqua Saver is a cold water or mixed low temperature tap. Its low temperature operation (up to 25° c) means that it consumes 90% less water than traditional taps and saves more than 85% of the energy costs associated with traditional hot water taps (100% if you operate the cold-only version). The unique spray-pattern aerator jet ensures that the water does not feel cold to the user, even when using the cold water only option. Instead the water jet produces an optimal sensation of cleanliness when washing hands and leaves a pleasant feeling on the skin.
