It always seems strange when people talk about water shortages in the UK but when the Head of the Environment Agency, Sir James Bevan speaks you know it is time to take notice. He told delegates at the Waterwise conference that in around 20 to 25 years, unless we take action, there would not be enough water to supply the needs of England. Alongside that startling fact is the knowledge that water bills are also due to increase by an average of 2% in the UK from April 2019.
So how can you start to deliver responsible water management, and consequential cost savings for your organisation? One area which we think is a clear opportunity for savings is to look at the water usage from taps across your buildings. These are often situated within busy washrooms which are used on a regular basis and where there is also an opportunity to improve hygiene with their touch-free operation.
We’ve made some calculations, based on a number of fixed assumptions, which we think provides compelling evidence of the benefits of sensor controlled taps which can deliver a return on investment within a minimum of 12- 15 months.
Assumptions: Single tap in commercial washroom being used 50 times per day. Water metre supply site. Supply and waste combined costs. Water costs taken from current market supply and waste combined costs, example used Thames Water.
Our range of quality, wras-approved products can deliver savings to your building that can recover the capital cost within a short time and then provide valuable ongoing water savings for your business.
